In a Pew Research Center study of 900 US adults' Google searches, users clicked a traditional result link on 8% of visits when an AI summary appeared, compared with 15% when it didn't. Google announced at I/O in May 2025 that AI Mode, its conversational search experience, was rolling out to all Google Search users in the US.

Is SEO still worth it if Google shows AI answers?

Yes, but the target has changed. AI Overviews and AI Mode build their answers from websites Google trusts. Good SEO now earns you the click and the citation, while weak SEO loses both.

How is US SEO different from local SEO?

Can't we just create a page for every city?
